Located at Somerset this facility bears the indigenous name for the Southern Cross constellation.
Situated high on the hill at Somerset overlooking the ocean and Table Cape it is hard to believe the waves are so far away. The design has captured the vista of the sea and many of the rooms have been sited to capture the best of the views.
All of the rooms are single with an ensuite, with many looking onto the extensive landscaped gardens. There are 81 rooms in all and accommodation for couples with different care needs is possible on the same site. The rooms are tastefully furnished and residents are encouraged to personalise their room in their own style. Nearby cosy sitting rooms are stocked with tea and coffee making provisions for those wishing to entertain their family and friends.
The warm friendly ambience is evidenced by the close involvement with the local community and Yaraandoo is seen as a hub of activity in this seaside town. A wide range of activities is offered for those wishing to maintain current skills and interests or even develop new ones.
The quality of the meals is a feature of this Yaraandoo as the smaller size of this facility allows a home-like menu highlighting the use of local seasonal vegetables.
Catholic Mass is held weekly as well as three prayer sessions per week in the peaceful chapel. Services for other denominations are also held weekly.
The dedicated members of the Auxilliary Committee run a well stocked kiosk providing everyday items as well as some little luxuries and gifts for purchase. This is located in the open foyer where the small well patronised Café is also a feature. There is often a raffle on the go right near the front door!
